MV Surfcasters prepare their equipment for the return of the Striped Bass

Martha’s Vineyard, MA (April 16 2003) – The Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters Association was treated to the expertise of professional reel technician Ray Faini at their monthly meeting held on April 16 at the American Legion Hall in Tisbury. Mr. Faini, one the most knowledgeable and skilled fishing reel repair technicians on the island, presented a "how to" night for the audience. Anglers brought in old and new reels and were taught the proper procedures for cleaning and maintenance in anticipation of the upcoming fishing season. While Ray conducted the hands on session other members of the organization gave "round-robin" classes on knots, leaders, hooks & more!

The "Vineyard surfcasters", consist of men, women, boys, and girls who all share in the passion of sport fishing. Both Island residents and visitors belong to the organization which provides numerous activities that promote the sport.
