Chick fledgings causing Trustees to close portions of East Beach
The Trustees
June 3, 2015
East Beach has been closed to vehicle traffic as of today to approximately 1-200 yards south of Arruda's. In addition, the restriction at the gut has been extended to 150 yards before the windmill house. This is in addition to yesterday's restriction of Leland Beach from Dike Bridge south 3-400 yards. Distances are approximate and can change daily. Pedestrians are allowed to walk past vehicle clos...ures. No dogs are allowed past these points, even on leash. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding. These closures are happening quickly, however, with luck, good weather, lots of insects, and as little disturbance as possible, these chicks can fledge and beaches will be reopened somewhere in the range of four weeks. However, keep in mind nature is unpredictable and we will do our best to manage access appropriately for both people and wildlife!
