President Trump Signs The Modern Fish Act
Repost of the American Sportfishing Association Article (January 2, 2019) in the On The Water online magazine.
The recreational fishing and boating community is celebrating the
enactment of the Modernizing Recreational Fisheries Management Act of
2018 (Modern Fish Act), which was signed into law by President Trump
December 31. The Modern Fish Act finally recognizes in federal law the differences
between recreational and commercial fishing and adds more appropriate
management tools for policymakers to use in managing federal
recreational fisheries.

The derby fishing is hit or miss but get out there and wet a line. As usual strange things happen during the derby and you can expect the unexpected! Check out the awesome pictures of some of our MVSA members success. Be safe and get out there and have fun during this great time on the Vineyard. Most of all, don't get caught up in derby fever and miss the most important part of this derby...being with friends and enjoying the island. Those are the times you will remember most once the derby has ended.
Please pay special attention to the tribute to the great Ed Jerome. There are no words that can truly express what a great icon he is to all who knew him and what he has done for this island, community and especially the Derby which we all owe special gratitude. Respect does not even come close to covering all he has done.
Don't forget about the MVSA In-House derby if you are skilled (aka: Lucky) enough to land a nice fish. Details are in the newsletter and can also be found on the MVSA website under the CLUB tab and then by clicking on the 2018 In-House Derby link.
